Yoga Class Descriptions
Every Gentle Body: This class is open to anyone that may be curious about yoga or someone that is “out of practice." We work with the breath to facilitate the body to move at almost effortless waves. This class is appropriate for all levels of practice.
Iyengar: Open Levels: Yoga master BKS Iyengar revolutionized the practice of poses and breath work as means for modern people to explore the art and science of Yoga. Read more here: https://iynaus.org/iyengar-yoga. The system is methodical and progressive, emphasizing safety, alignment, and the development of self-awareness. The class is open to all students. Modifications will be given as needed. Sessions are progressively designed and meant for attendance at all classes. Drop-ins are welcome.
Beginning Yoga: is an 8-class series for students who are new to yoga. Learn basic poses and breathing techniques to relax the body and calm the mind. Contact Mary Beth to register 217-5584.
Yoga for Stress Relief: No matter the source of your stress, yoga can help you feel calmer and better able to manage challenges in life. This class includes active and relaxing postures, as well as movement within poses, to release tension from your body and stress from your mind. (Beginner students welcome!)
Yoga for Meditation: an intro to meditation for people with yoga experience. Class combines postures (asana), breathing techniques (pranayama), and chant (mantra) to prepare the body and mind for seated meditation. Contact Mary Beth to register 217-5584.
Beginning Yoga for Seniors: For older adults who are new to yoga. Some poses use a chair, some are done on the floor.
Yoga for Seniors: A gentle class, perfect for beginners. This class is designed to build strength and increase flexibility, as well, as range of motion while promoting a sense of balance, calm and relaxation. Some poses will be performed in a chair to enhance balance.
Gentle Yoga: appropriate for aging bodies. Classic poses taught with attention to alignment. Supportive props used. Classes include a monthly restorative session as well as extended savasana/relaxation at the end of every class.
Very Gentle Class: appropriate for those who have some medical conditions or restrictions that may need special attention and/or support.
